Toowoomba Bears Rugby was established in 1982 as a group of aspiring players looked to resurrect the Aubigny Rugby Club. Initially training on and calling Gold Park home, the club found it's present home in 1992 after the Southern Cross Social Club donated it's grounds to the Toowoomba City Council. Christened with a 15-9 win, the first Bears Rugby game was played at Southern Cross Reserve on the 4th April 1992 versus the Warwick Water Rats. The clubhouse was built by the fundraising efforts of Bears Rugby and Toowoomba Cricket.
